Cliffhanger is a plot device that consist in a sudden suspension of the action in a tense situation. It was very common in Victorian crime novels and was intended to encourage readers to buy next parts of the story. Cliffhangers are used extensively in today's culture, but they have moved from there into everyday life as well. We look forward to seeing the end of various stories more and more often. However, instead of curiosity and excitement, we feel insecurity and anxiety.

Each of the four series tells to some extent about the feeling of growing tension and the fear culture we have been living in for some time. An increasing discrepancy can be observed between the reality in programs or news portals, where we are flooded with negative information from around the world, and the reality in social media, which becomes an escape to a strange, artificially created land where life goes on in its own pace, and the possibility of full creation of the presented content makes us feel safe there. It is sometimes difficult to navigate between such different realities, which causes tension and frustration.

All collages were made based on archival stock photos from various places and periods.
